Note for: Michael Emmett Higgerty, 30
APR 1912 - MAR 1995 Index
He seems to have been called Emmett most often. He was known as Emmett
his life. I know this from Fran Lussier who was his niece. He was a
football star at St. Partick's College in Ottawa. I saw his yearbook. I
also saw some photos of football plays. He had written comments on the
back and it was apparent that he was quite a funny commentator, a good
writer. He died of old age.
Fran's son John recalled to me about when he went to hockey games with
his Uncle Emmet. His uncle used to know a bunch os stars and used to
recognize old stars and stuff.
Fran's godfather.

1931 - 1934: St. Patrick's College, Ottawa. Attained rank of Warrant
Officer in Supply Unit of RCAF. Service number 9771. Served from July
31 1937 to Dec 2 1964. He was a supply technitian. This from his
Military Personal History Form. There is more deatail on it and I have
it in hard copy.

Note for: Francis James Higgerty, 5
JAN 1915 - 1991 Index
I have seen him called Francis; for example in the 1921 city directory.
He was father of Fran Lussier who I met in Dec. 1995 at her house. She
told me much about him and his brother Michael Emmet, among others.
Frank was into Hockey. He went to St. Patrick's college there and also
played football. He wasn't as good as his older brother Emmet though,
who appears to have been quite a star from the yearbook.
Won an OHL gold medal. His daughter Fran has it.

AUG 1917 - Index

In my travels regarding the Higgerty tree this ladys name has been
brought to my attention as a Higgerty expert by others. I first heard
her name from Peter Smeaton back in December. Peter heard of her from
Nora Higgerty from the east who had herself done some extensive work on
the Higgerty tree. Nora had to go to Elizabeth as do all interested in
the tree. Elizabeth is to be the family keeper and expert on the tree.
Peter gave me her number and I said I would call. The next person that
told me of her was John Brian (Brian) Higgerty of Ottawa when I spoke to
him on the phone in December. He told me Elizabeth was aware of me and
that I should talk to her as she knows a lot.
I will call her tomorrow.

RE: Copy of: Elizabeth Bradley
Peter,
My, I just got off the phone with Elizabeth and I felt happy, I even had
a tear or two in my eyes. What a link from the past she is. I feel like
I just met many of my ancestors. Funny thing is all we did was basically
set up the appointment. January 20, Saturday, at 2:00pm. Be there or be
square. She is the nicest lady and seems like Nora, rattling names off
from the top of her head. She is bright I tell you. She is saving the
information for our visit and I didn't even right anything down, hardly.
Except for: Dorris, Allan, Bessie, beautiful, Sat 20 2:pm, and the
directions. Her husband, Vince gave them to me as she doesn't drive.
She said she new your mom quite well. And mentioned Allan. I think that
is your brother, without looking. She said she doesn't think she ever
met you but she certainly knew the whole lot of you.
Elizabeth is more Higgerty than all being from both families. She knew
my great grandpa Charles and called him Uncle Charlie. Hahahaha.
Of course I mentioned my photo to her. She said, "Is that the one were
Aunt Lizie is sitting in the chair as a child with the leather button
boots?" I couldn't believe that. You'd think she was at my house
looking at it. She remembers it from the walls of Aunt Lizie's house.
Amazing. She probably hasn't seen it since the earliy fourties at most
recent as it wass given to my great grandpa and he died in 1944.
ONE OF US SHOULD BRING A TAPE RECORDER WHEN WE GO. My friend Jeremy is
in Journalism at Carleton and he has one, it's miniature. What do you
think?
See you,
Will.

She said she had more contact with her mothers side of the family.
Stopped driving when she was about 21, after she got into an accident and
it was taken to court. Hers and the other lawyer were two of the best in
Ottawa. When she was in court she felt like she was being tried for
murder. Veridict was that it was 60% her fault. She stopped to far out
into the road and was hit. The other guy was going to fast though. - as
per Elizabeth Bradley, Jan. 20, 1996.
